PJ Chmiel

This work is amazing because it is all created by a figure/ground relationship. You can see what is being advertised by just seeing the white. A lot of Chmiel's work shows simplicity which I like. It does not take a lot to show what is needed to be understood.

The Tombras Group

I like the work that The Tombras Group does because they have a variety of jobs they do from printed ads to tv commercials. This ad for Kimball's Jewelers is full of bright colors and i like that the design is somewhat vintage. The designs made from this company are also seen from many known companies. I admit that I am biased because my cousin works for this company, but I like their designs.

Barry Deck

Barry Deck did this work for Moss Real Estate Group. I like Barry Deck's work because the typograhpy is original. Also, a lot of the illustrations are done in a figure ground relationship. In these pieces i love how the image seems grounded by having the artwork on the bottom.

Eduardo Recife

This piece which is titled Dream was created by Eduardo Recife. His illustrations are vintage and the typography he created for a lot of his work helps add to the vintage effect. The way he puts different elements together in his work and makes them a whole allows the viewer to accept what the piece was meant to illustrate. He also has many elements in his work that he drew himself, which i find appealing.

Alexey Brodovitch

Alexy Brodovitch work is very appealing because a lot of what he does is in black and white. He allows his work to look feminine and vintage without overdoing it. His typography also stands out in his layouts because he sometimes uses the black and white plus one palette.
When I look at an advertisement or logo, I take consideration into the detail and way the composition is put together. If it is boring I may overlook it. I decided to become a graphic designer because I love the feeling i get when I have created something that makes me take a second glance. The satisfaction of creating a design is doubled when I can please my client as well. I want my client to stand out. Therefore, I want my work to be recognized. Hopefully I will eventually do this with magazine layouts.
I find Alexey Brodovitch's graphic design work appealing because his style is very vintage. The typography on some of the work he did in Bazaare magazine is very feminine and can gracefully take up the length of a page without leaving unoccupied space looking awkward.
If I could design the cover of any music artist's cd, I would design for Meredith Andrews. The reason for this is because her past cd covers tend to follow a certain type of design that I like. Her designs usually lean towards a vintage, victorian style.
